DOMESTIC AIRLINES ON WEST AFRICAN ROUTES

Nigeria Aviation industry has grown tremendously. With over 36 Airports and others are still under construction. The major airports are Murtala Mohamed Airport, Lagos; Abuja International  Airport, Abuja (FCT); Port Harcourt International Airport; Aminu Kano International Airport;  Calabar Airport; Kaduna Airport; Maiduguri Airport; Ibadan Airport; Akure Airport; Benin City Airport; Enugu Airport etc.

The following domestic airlines ply these routes and others that are not listed yet on this website

B737 aircraft

  • ADC Airline, Aero Contractors, Belleview Airline, General Aviation, Chanchangi Airlines,  Donier Aviation Nig Ltd, EAS Airline, Express Airways Nig. Ltd,  Kabo Airlines, Nigeria Airways, North East Airlines, Okada Air, Pan African Airlines, Premium Air Shuttle, and Triax Airlines Ltd.
  • One can not be very confident about the airworthiness of some of these local airlines. There have been many air crashes or near mishap in recent times. However, the government and the Federal Aviation Authority are doing everything possible to ensure air safety in Nigeria. Therefore one must take precaution and ask the locals about those local airlines that have better safety records and reliability.
  • There are advantages to airline competition in West Africa. One obvious advantage is that you would always find connection to your destination in the sub region. Second, the prices are moderate because of competition.
  • Service has also improved because of competition. With time,  and perhaps consolidation in the industry would bring newer aircraft, maintenance would improve and professionalism would be the order of the region. This development in the industry would certain promote Tourism in the region.
