Agagu loses the seat of Power in Sun shine state!Olusegun Mimiko reclaims the seat...July 25,2008 -- According to the hot news this morning, Ondo State Election Tribunal said that Governor Olusegun Agagu was not the rightful winner of the April 14, 2007 election in Ondo State, rather his rival Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of the Labor Party having worn the majority of the lawful votes. Agagu has indicated his plan to appeal the judgment at the appeal court. This is the usual practice in a case like this. He has consulted with his legal team and his political party PDP. PDP has also indicated its intention, as the sponsor of Agagu, to appeal same decision. While Agagu and his party ponder over their current political misfortune, Mimiko and his Labor Party continue to celebrate the victory of the moment and rightfully so. Mimiko has always said that the people of Ondo State did not elect Olusegun Agagu as their governor and that the victory was stolen. Now that the stolen victory is about to be returned through the court process, the rest of us would have to wait and see the outcome of the next episode in this long drawn drama. Whoever eventually returns to the seat of power in Ondo State, the wish of the people is good governance, that includes people oriented programmes including good roads, free and qualitative education, accessibility to good water, affordable food, accessible health services and above all judicious use of our common resources. Agagu lost at the appeal Court, case closed!. In April 2009, the appeal court ruled that Dr. Mimiko scored that highest votes in the last governorship election in Ondo state. Therefore, he was sworn in and now presides over the administration of Ondo states. From all available information, Mimiko seems to be lost at sea. He had a terrible time appointing his officers and securing their confirmation from the PDP dominated Assembly. Since he got their confirmation, not much has been heard or seen from his commissioners or himself. The only information making the round especially from PDP loyalists is the SECRET ACCOUNT which is said to have been opened by Agagu's administration in the dying hours of his administration. The concern is, since Dr Mimiko found it, why not take over the account with billions said to be in it and use it for the people of the state. After all, it is our money!.
